Peshmerga: Kurdistan's Hope

Kurdistan is a landlocked, autonomous region in northern Iraq that is protected by a military force known as Peshmerga. With more than 127,000 of these young soldiers, who are trained by foreign armies such as Germany and Italy, Iraqi Kurdistan is hoping to defeat ISIS. This is the same military group that played a key role in finding Iraq’s late leader Saddam Hussein. These soldiers can be as young as mid-teenage years and are willing to finance their own guns and other military equipment, and can even be female gender. Such commitment to the cause gives the enemy pause.
